Marine Marching Band at the State Fair of Texas

Last day of the State Fair of Texas and I enjoyed the Marine Marching Band playing in front of the Hall of State, so majestic.  When they played the national anthem and so many people stopped talking, removed their hats and put their hands over their hearts I got a lump in my throat.  Then they marched back – right in front of me and I followed them.  Got these great pictures, especially of them marching under the arch Bob and Rich designed many years ago and on to the fountain.  This garden/fountain is the only one of Minick Associates designs that remains all year.  When they first designed it the flags advertised all the museums on the grounds.  Not so many museums now so these flags advertise Big Tex, the Fair and Texas.  Had to swallow the lump in my throat to keep it from turning to tears.  And that’s what makes the Great State Fair of Texas GREAT. – Lottie
